Tafsir of Surah Al-Israa 17:12
﴿وَجَعَلْنَا اللَّيْلَ وَالنَّهَارَ آيَتَيْنِ فَمَحَوْنَا آيَةَ اللَّيْلِ وَجَعَلْنَا آيَةَ النَّهَارِ مُبْصِرَةً لِّتَبْتَغُوا فَضْلًا مِّن رَّبِّكُمْ وَلِتَعْلَمُوا عَدَدَ السِّنِينَ وَالْحِسَابَ وَكُلَّ شَيْءٍ فَصَّلْنَاهُ تَفْصِيلًا﴾
Translation of the meaning
And We have made the night and day two signs, and We erased the sign of the night and made the sign of the day visible that you may seek bounty from your Lord and may know the number of years and the account [of time]. And everything We have set out in detail.

Imam Ibn al-Qayyim
فلولا ما يحدثه الله سبحانه في آيات الليل من زيادة ضوئها ونقصانه لم يعلم ميقات الحج والصوم والعدة ومدة الرضاع ومدة الحمل ومدة الإجارة ومدة آجال الحاملات«التبيان في أقسام القرآن» 1/165وهذا كقوله تعالى {وجعلنا آية النهار مبصرة} أي مضيئة وحقيقة اللفظ انها تجعل من رآها مبصرا فهي توجب له البصر فتبصره أي تجعله ذا بصر فهي موضحة مبينة«مفتاح دار السعادة ومنشور ولاية العلم والإرادة» 1/92
