Tafsir of Surah Al-Baqara 2:222
﴿وَيَسْأَلُونَكَ عَنِ الْمَحِيضِ قُلْ هُوَ أَذًى فَاعْتَزِلُوا النِّسَاءَ فِي الْمَحِيضِ وَلَا تَقْرَبُوهُنَّ حَتَّىٰ يَطْهُرْنَ فَإِذَا تَطَهَّرْنَ فَأْتُوهُنَّ مِنْ حَيْثُ أَمَرَكُمُ اللَّهُ إِنَّ اللَّهَ يُحِبُّ التَّوَّابِينَ وَيُحِبُّ الْمُتَطَهِّرِينَ﴾
Translation of the meaning
And they ask you about menstruation. Say, "It is harm, so keep away from wives during menstruation. And do not approach them until they are pure. And when they have purified themselves, then come to them from where Allāh has ordained for you. Indeed, Allāh loves those who are constantly repentant and loves those who purify themselves."

Shaykh al-Islam Ibn Taymiyyah
وهذا يبين أن التطهر هو الاغتسال.«مجموع الفتاوى» 21/396ولكن وده وحبه بحسب ما يتقرب إليه العبد بعد التوبة؛ فإن كان ما يأتي به من محبوبات الحق بعد التوبة أفضل مما كان يأتي به قبل ذلك كانت مودته له بعد التوبة أعظم من مودته له قبل التوبة.«مجموع الفتاوى» 10/304
