Tafsir of Surah Al-Baqara 2:80
﴿وَقَالُوا لَن تَمَسَّنَا النَّارُ إِلَّا أَيَّامًا مَّعْدُودَةً قُلْ أَتَّخَذْتُمْ عِندَ اللَّهِ عَهْدًا فَلَن يُخْلِفَ اللَّهُ عَهْدَهُ أَمْ تَقُولُونَ عَلَى اللَّهِ مَا لَا تَعْلَمُونَ﴾
Translation of the meaning
And they say, "Never will the Fire touch us, except for [a few] numbered days." Say, "Have you taken a covenant with Allāh? For Allāh will never break His covenant. Or do you say about Allāh that which you do not know?"

Imam Ibn al-Qayyim
فإن قولهم: {لن تمسنا النار إلا أياما معدودة} خبر عن غيب لا يعلم إلا بالوحي فإما أن يكون قولا على الله بلا علم فيكون كاذبا وإما أن يكون مستندا إلى وحي من الله وعهد عهده إلى المخبر وهذا منتف قطعا فتعين أن يكون خبرا كاذبا قائله كاذب على الله تعالى.«بدائع الفوائد» 4/143
