Tafsir of Surah An-Naml 27:46
﴿قَالَ يَا قَوْمِ لِمَ تَسْتَعْجِلُونَ بِالسَّيِّئَةِ قَبْلَ الْحَسَنَةِ لَوْلَا تَسْتَغْفِرُونَ اللَّهَ لَعَلَّكُمْ تُرْحَمُونَ﴾
Translation of the meaning
He said, "O my people, why are you impatient for evil before [i.e., instead of] good? Why do you not seek forgiveness of Allāh that you may receive mercy?"

فالاستغفار المفرد كالتوبة، بل هو التوبة بعينها، مع تضمنه طلب المغفرة من الله، وهو محو الذنب، وإزالة أثره، ووقاية شره«مدارج السالكين بين منازل إياك نعبد وإياك نستعين» 1/314
