Tafsir of Surah An-Nisaa 4:142

Translation of the meaning

Indeed, the hypocrites [think to] deceive Allāh, but He is deceiving them. And when they stand for prayer, they stand lazily, showing [themselves to] the people and not remembering Allāh except a little,

Shaykh al-Islam Ibn Taymiyyah

وأيضا أخبر أنه خادعهم، وخدع الله العبد عقوبة له، والعقوبة لا تكون إلا على فعل محرم، أو ترك واجب.«الفتاوى الكبرى لابن تيمية» 6/21

فأما المرائي بالفرائض فكل أحد يعلم قبح حاله وأن الله يعاقبه لكونه لم يعبده مخلصا له الدين«مجموع الفتاوى» 22/507
