Tafsir of Surah Al-Ghaafir 40:31
﴿مِثْلَ دَأْبِ قَوْمِ نُوحٍ وَعَادٍ وَثَمُودَ وَالَّذِينَ مِن بَعْدِهِمْ وَمَا اللَّهُ يُرِيدُ ظُلْمًا لِّلْعِبَادِ﴾
Translation of the meaning
Like the custom of the people of Noah and of ʿAad and Thamūd and those after them. And Allāh wants no injustice for [His] servants.

يبين أن هذا العقاب لم يكن ظلما؛ لاستحقاقهم ذلك وإن الله لا يريد الظلم؛ والأمر الذي لا يمكن القدرة عليه لا يصلح أن يمدح الممدوح بعدم إرادته وإنما يكون المدح بترك الأفعال إذا كان الممدوح قادرا عليها فعلم أن الله قادر على ما نزه نفسه عنه من الظلم وأنه لا يفعله«مجموع الفتاوى» 18/144
