Tafsir of Surah Ad-Dukhaan 44:37
﴿أَهُمْ خَيْرٌ أَمْ قَوْمُ تُبَّعٍ وَالَّذِينَ مِن قَبْلِهِمْ أَهْلَكْنَاهُمْ إِنَّهُمْ كَانُوا مُجْرِمِينَ﴾
Translation of the meaning
Are they better or the people of Tubbaʿ and those before them? We destroyed them, [for] indeed, they were criminals.

فهذا يبين أن أولئك إذا كانوا كفارا وقد عذبناهم، فالكفار الذين كذبوا محمدا ليسوا خيرا من أولئك، بل هم مثلهم استحقوا من العقوبة ما استحقه أولئك، ولو كانوا خيرا منهم لم يستحقوا ذلك.«منهاج السنة النبوية في نقض كلام الشيعة القدرية» 5/108
