Tafsir of Surah Al-An'aam 6:65
﴿قُلْ هُوَ الْقَادِرُ عَلَىٰ أَن يَبْعَثَ عَلَيْكُمْ عَذَابًا مِّن فَوْقِكُمْ أَوْ مِن تَحْتِ أَرْجُلِكُمْ أَوْ يَلْبِسَكُمْ شِيَعًا وَيُذِيقَ بَعْضَكُم بَأْسَ بَعْضٍ انظُرْ كَيْفَ نُصَرِّفُ الْآيَاتِ لَعَلَّهُمْ يَفْقَهُونَ﴾
Translation of the meaning
Say, "He is the [one] Able to send upon you affliction from above you or from beneath your feet or to confuse you [so you become] sects and make you taste the violence of one another." Look how We diversify the signs that they might understand.

Shaykh al-Islam Ibn Taymiyyah
فهذا الذي أخبر أنه قادر عليه منه ما لا يكون وهو إرسال عذاب من فوق الأمة أو من تحت أرجلهم. ومنه ما يكون وهو لبسهم شيعا وإذاقة بعضهم بأس بعض،«مجموع الفتاوى» 8/499فدل على أنه لا بد أن يلبسهم شيعا ويذيق بعضهم بأس بعض مع براءة الرسول في هذه الحال وهم فيها في جاهلية.«مجموع الفتاوى» 17/310
