Tafsir of Surah At-Tawba 9:20
﴿الَّذِينَ آمَنُوا وَهَاجَرُوا وَجَاهَدُوا فِي سَبِيلِ اللَّهِ بِأَمْوَالِهِمْ وَأَنفُسِهِمْ أَعْظَمُ دَرَجَةً عِندَ اللَّهِ وَأُولَٰئِكَ هُمُ الْفَائِزُونَ﴾
Translation of the meaning
The ones who have believed, emigrated and striven in the cause of Allāh with their wealth and their lives are greater in rank in the sight of Allāh. And it is those who are the attainers [of success].

فقوله: {أعظم درجة} كما قال في السابقين {أعظم درجة} وهذا نصب على التمييز: أي درجتهم أعظم درجة وهذا يقتضي تفضيلا مجملا يقال: منزلة هذا أعظم وأكبر«مجموع الفتاوى» 14/125Imam Ibn al-Qayyim
