Tafsir of Surah Al-Baqara 2:172
﴿يَا أَيُّهَا الَّذِينَ آمَنُوا كُلُوا مِن طَيِّبَاتِ مَا رَزَقْنَاكُمْ وَاشْكُرُوا لِلَّهِ إِن كُنتُمْ إِيَّاهُ تَعْبُدُونَ﴾
Translation of the meaning
O you who have believed, eat from the good [i.e., lawful] things which We have provided for you and be grateful to Allāh if it is [indeed] Him that you worship.

فأمر بأكل الطيبات، والشكر لله، فمن حرم الطيبات كان معتديا، ومن لم يشكر كان مفرطا مضيعا لحق الله،«الفتاوى الكبرى لابن تيمية» 2/145Imam Ibn al-Qayyim
أما قوله: {إن كنتم إياه تعبدون} الذي حسن مجيء إن هاهنا الاحتجاج والإلزام فإن المعنى إن عبادتكم لله تستلزم شكركم له بل هي الشكر نفسه فإن كنتم ملتزمين لعبادته داخلين في جملتها فكلوا من رزقه واشكروه على نعمه«بدائع الفوائد» 1/48
