Tafsir of Surah Al-Qasas 28:68
﴿وَرَبُّكَ يَخْلُقُ مَا يَشَاءُ وَيَخْتَارُ مَا كَانَ لَهُمُ الْخِيَرَةُ سُبْحَانَ اللَّهِ وَتَعَالَىٰ عَمَّا يُشْرِكُونَ﴾
Translation of the meaning
And your Lord creates what He wills and chooses; not for them was the choice. Exalted is Allāh and high above what they associate with Him.

Imam Ibn al-Qayyim
أي سبحانه المتفرد بالخلق والاختيار مما خلق وهو الاصطفاء والاجتباء ولهذا كان الوقف التام عند قوله ويختار ثم نفى عنهم الاختيار الذي اقترحوه بإرادتهم«شفاء العليل في مسائل القضاء والقدر والحكمة والتعليل» 1/31أي سبحانه المتفرد بالخلق والاختيار مما خلق وهو الاصطفاء والاجتباء ولهذا كان الوقف التام عند قوله ويختار«شفاء العليل في مسائل القضاء والقدر والحكمة والتعليل» 1/31
