Tafsir of Surah Al-Anfaal 8:58
﴿وَإِمَّا تَخَافَنَّ مِن قَوْمٍ خِيَانَةً فَانبِذْ إِلَيْهِمْ عَلَىٰ سَوَاءٍ إِنَّ اللَّهَ لَا يُحِبُّ الْخَائِنِينَ﴾
Translation of the meaning
If you [have reason to] fear from a people betrayal, throw [their treaty] back to them, [putting you] on equal terms. Indeed, Allāh does not like traitors.

Shaykh al-Islam Ibn Taymiyyah
فإنما أباح النبذ عند ظهور إمارات الخيانة؛ لأن المحذور من جهتهم«مجموع الفتاوى» 29/141Imam Ibn al-Qayyim
والآية حجة عليهم؛ لأنه إنما أباح نبذ عهدهم إليهم إذا خاف منهم خيانة، فإذا لم يخف منهم خيانة لم يجز النبذ إليهم، بل مفهوم هذه الآية مطابق لمنطوق تلك.«أحكام أهل الذمة» 2/883
