Tafsir of Surah Yusuf 12:85
﴿قَالُوا تَاللَّهِ تَفْتَأُ تَذْكُرُ يُوسُفَ حَتَّىٰ تَكُونَ حَرَضًا أَوْ تَكُونَ مِنَ الْهَالِكِينَ﴾
Translation of the meaning
They said, "By Allāh, you will not cease remembering Joseph until you become fatally ill or become of those who perish."

Shaykh al-Islam Ibn Taymiyyah
أي: لا تفتأ؛ أي: تزال تذكر يوسف حتى تكون حرضا، لأن عدم لوازم الإثبات دل على أن المراد النفي، فحذف حرف النفي اختصارا، إذ كان في الكلام ما يدل عليه«الرد على السبكي في مسألة تعليق الطلاق» 2/588
